Redsite serves as both a collection point for my design work and a safe place to conduct on-line experimentation. The portfolio section represents a culmination of my years as a web and graphic designer. The site is currently undergoing a conversion to standards based code (CSS and XHTML) - pretty exciting times indeed! Why is your logo a red star? I decided to adopt the logo of a black circle with a red star as a tribute to the DIY (Do It Yourself) attitude of the UK punk scene of the late 70s. The band the Clash often used a red star on their clothing and album covers. They rose to the top of the scene by combining their love of rock&roll with reggae, funk, and their own unique style. My variation of the logo serves as reminder that I have to keep my eyes open and my skills sharp. Design is a constantly evolving medium. Staying in touch with emerging trends and technology requires vigilance and passion, not to mention work! I try to approach this work with energy and an enthusiasm for fun.
What is an accoutrement? An accoutrement (ac·cou·ter·ment or ac·cou·tre·ment ~ noun) is:
For our purposes, we will go with the first definition. I decided I would use my growing list of design accoutrements as inspiration to create a small Flash intro for the site. Unfortunately, before I could finish the project, the original files were lost during some drama with my computer. Rather then get rid of the whole thing I have moved it to this section while I work on a new site indtroduction. It is just a list of things that make my life easier (in no particular order). |
